It is done. I completed the etape this year, a grueling three climbs in 40-degree heat. I’m just surprised that more people didn’t fail. I managed to cross the finish line with a clock time of 9h6mins, which taking off the delay at the start gave me a course time of 8h50 or so.
I’m glad to report that Jon, my training partner came in not far behind me, as did all my associates succeed in crossing the finish before the elimination car (one, by the skin of his teeth, the car followed my brother D over the line, very closely.
It was a very tough year – watch the pros struggle on Thursday when they do this section.
